We are very grateful (to the weather Gods!) for the good progress we have made with the harvest so far this year. We began picking the grapes on September 4th and their abundance, character and aromatics reflect the excellent harvesting conditions we have experienced.
Indeed we had a dry spring and a warm summer with sufficient rain and plenty of sunshine to allow the grapes to grow and ripen optimally. We only hope the conditions remain until early October when we expect to have cropped our entire 45 ha (111 acres).
Not every wine area in Austria has been as lucky this year. Large areas in Lower Austria were devastated by hail and frost which reduced the average yield by up to 50-85%. Fortunately we expect the wine area of the Neusiedlersee will see an average tonnage this year. We look forward to fermenting our grapes and delighting your pallets with their elegance, fruit and aromatics.
