"Third Man" Wine promoted in Bookshop
The British Bookshop in Vienna celebrated 60 years of "The Third Man". On 10 March, film fans and book lovers enjoyed tasting "Third Man" wine, which was produced by Hoepler winery in honour of the film.
On Wednesday, 10 March, exactly sixty years after the classic British film premiered in Austria, the British Bookshop in Vienna´s first district held an event with guests of honour, who were in charge of continuity when the orginal film crew arrived in Vienna in 1948.
The programme constisted of readings by Christopher-Wentworth Stanley and Brigitte Timmermann from her book "The Third Man`s Vienna", and zither music from Anton Kara`s original film score was played. Guests were also watched over by performers dressed as military policemen, one for each of the four occupying powers who were known by the locals as "the four in a jeep".
As well as books, the British Bookshop has also promoted "Third Man" wine, which was produced by the Hoepler winery in honour of the film.
