The harvest was brilliant this year. We started on September 7th which is 2 weeks early compared to a regular year. We are looking forward to fantastic wines!
We started harvest on September 7th which is 2 weeks earlier compared to the years before. We had plenty of rain in July followed by a very hot late summer. Therefore the grapes got fully ripe. The reds and whites are very fruit driven and aromatic. The reds are extremly deep in colour. Acidity levels are nice. Quantities are average to normal.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year. Most oft he white juice is still fermenting and the majority of the reds are getting started now. The cellar is filled by extremly delicate aromas!
We also experiment with new findings. For the Pinot Noir we chose a cold maceration of 3 days at 12°C to extract precursors as well as anthocyan. So vintage 11 will be more concentrated in flavour and colour. We will also use special barrels for the Pinot Noir. Their colour is pinkish which comes from the imparted carotenoids that enhance the fruit of the wines.
